Participating stores are asked to purchase Meth Watch kits which range in price from $20 to $38 depending on the size of the store.
Note : one of the primary benefits of participating in Meth Watch is potentially saving hundreds or thousands of dollars by reducing theft of meth-related products from your store!
Each Meth Watch kit contains the following:
- Shelf tags
- Decals for store entrances and registers
- Brochures on Oregon Meth Watch
- Tear-off sheets with information on Oregon Meth Watch
- Training video and poster for store employees on the products used to make meth, characteristics of meth users, and information on what to do if they suspect customers may be purchasing these products to make meth

Participating stores may utilize as many components of the Meth Watch kits as they wish. At a minimum, stores are encouraged to place decals on windows and at check-out registers and post the poster in the employee break-room to inform customers, employees and potential meth cooks of their participation in the Meth Watch program.
Participation in Meth Watch will be publicized in local communities, highlighting the active involvement of your store in helping to reduce drug activity in the community. Store managers can fill out an order form (see link above) and mail a check to:
Tammy Stringham, Oregon State Police Chemical Diversion Unit
610 Hawthorne Avenue SE, Suite 150
Salem, OR 97301
Kits will be mailed within days of receiving the order. To make this easy for you, volunteers in each community are available to help provide training for your employees and answer any questions you may have about Meth Watch.
How Long will the Program Last?
- There is no established ending date for Meth Watch and there are no periodic enrollment fees or dues. Stores can continue to purchase kits as they run out of materials or choose to add new locations. We hope to keep participating stores enrolled in the program on an ongoing basis by providing them with regular updates on the progress of Meth Watch in enlisting more participants and its successes in reducing the prevalence of meth use in communities across the state.
- Furthermore, we hope to embark on a public service announcement campaign to educate citizens about the Meth Watch program, the problem of meth use in Oregon, and the participating stores that are taking an active role to reduce drug use in their communities.
